Mitr – A Friend Indeed’s Self Help Group for women was initiated on the 1st of July 2015 as part of Mitr’s first anniversary celebrations. The main objective behind this initiative is that we believe ‘Confident mothers make confident children!’
We currently have 8 active members – all wives of migrant construction workers and we are glad that the group is functioning well. The women are eager to learn new skills that, so far, have included quilling, jewellery making, stone art on paper and an acrylic base, and simple techniques for dyeing cloth, stitching and painting diyas. The skills are taught free of cost and all material for the same, is provided by Mitr.
The products made by the women will be sold under the label “Mitrmade”. Part of the profits from the sale of products will be distributed among the women and part will be utilized for procuring raw material for future projects so as to be able to sustain the project.
At present, the women are busy preparing for The 8th Yellow Ribbon Fair that will be held at Ishanya Mall from the 30th of October to the 2nd of November 2015. Do visit us at stall no.40 – “Mitrmade by Mitr – A Friend Indeed”.
Mitr is also open to making products on order, such as gift bags, return gifts for birthday parties and other tokens of appreciation. For more details, do write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
