Picnic at Peshwe Park

Mitr Picnic 3On the 19th of November, 2015, Mitr took 63 children of migrant labourers, from across Pune, on a picnic to Saras Baug and Peshwe Park.

Mitr Picnic 2The day began with delicious medu wadas and juice, followed by a round of drama based activities conducted by our very able interns Rashmeet Taluja, Siddhant Pawar and Caroline Almeida at Saras Baug. The children then made their way to Peshwe Park. They were thrilled to see the play equipment at the science based adventure park that ranged from suspension bridges to net and wall climbing.

Mitr Picnic 1This was the first time that the children visited Peshwe Park and they ensured that they tried every piece of equipment with enthusiasm and confidence. The ride in the battery operated Phulrani seemed to be the icing on the cake for most of the little ones.

Mitr PicnicAfter an adventurous morning, the children settled down in Saras Baug for a sumptuous meal, that included pav bhaji, vegetable pulav and cake, sponsored by Mitr supporter – Somorita Bose. After a walk in Saras Baug, the children proceeded to their centres with a song in their heart and a whole lot to discuss on their way home!
