September 2014 – December 2014

During the period September 2014 to December 2014, in addition to our regular Spoken English and Life Skills classes, we aim to have:

1. October – Paper Lantern Making Sessions for underprivileged children at various centres
Requirement – Coloured paper, Fevicol, paint, string, glitter, etc.

2. October – The ‘Gift a Smile’ initiative for families, below poverty line, affected by incurable diseases such as Thalassemia and HIV. These conditions require costly medical treatment, and festivities usually take a back seat. Through this initiative we attempt to share the joys of the season with 100 such families.
Number of hampers needed – 100
Requirement – Hampers costing approximately Rs.200/- with a kilo each of Sugar, Rava, Maida and Besan & ½ a kilo of Dalda Ghee to make sweets for Diwali or a hamper containing Sewain, Dry Fruit and Sugar for Eid.

3. 15th of November – Children’s Day Celebrations to be held for the children of migrant workers at labor camps in Magarpatta and Kondhwa.
Estimated number of participants – 200 children
Requirements – Snacks, prizes and gifts for each child and volunteers to organise and handle a mini fete and games for the children.

4. 23rd of November – Dance Competition to be held for children of migrant workers keeping in mind the concept of ‘child development through participation’.
Estimated number of participants – 100 children.
Requirement – Prizes and a certificate and snack for each child

5. December – Christmas Craft Workshop for underprivileged children at various centres.
Requirement – Coloured paper, Fevicol, paint, string, glitter, etc.

6. December – Santa’s Visit where our volunteers will visit either centres or homes of the underprivileged to distribute small gifts to children there and spread the Christmas cheer.
Requirement – Sweets, small gifts like pencils, erasers, sharpeners, colours, etc.

You could also support our activities by helping us collect old newspapers for sale or organizing garage sales, the proceeds of which will be used to fund our activities for the underprivileged.
