Summer of 2016

Mitr – A Friend Indeed organised summer camps at the labour camps at Magarpatta and Kondhwa for the children of migrant construction workers during the last week of April and the first week of May 2016. Each camp was conducted over a period of 5 days each.

Keeping in mind that summer is all about having fun and learning something new, the children played a lot of games like the Ball Relay, Dog and the Bone and an exciting game of charades. The volunteers also held art and craft sessions wherein they taught the children how to make pinwheels and how to draw different kinds of expressions to express various emotions. A dance session conducted by Diva Daruwalla was received with lots of enthusiasm and happiness.

The highlight of these camps would have to be the movie, The Jungle Book. 50 children from the centres watched the Jungle Book at Konark E-Square, Kondhwa. The children loved the movie and were thrilled to see their favourite characters on the big screen in 3-D.

The summer camps were a huge success this year thanks to the hard work put in by the volunteers : Husena Poonawalla, Darlene Mascarenhas, Ishita Sharma, Summer Jacobs , Rian Khorana, Diva Daruwalla and Amrita Gopal.
